PARK MERINO STUD 2013 RAM AUCTION.
Report By Jacinta Cummins
Tara Park Sale - September 2013
25th On Property Ram Sale
Summary of The Land report.
Victorian commercial producer Greg Simpson & his son Ben “Winjallop” near St Arnaud, were the top-priced buyers for the second year running when they paid $7000.
The ram’s fleece tested 18.3 micron with a 3.2 SD 17.5 CV & a 99.4pc comfort factor.
Mr Simpson liked the ram’s figures, but the decision to purchase it was mainly driven by visual assessment.
“The wool is very well nourished, he has a beautiful, pure head with a deep body and is overall a very well structured ram” he said.
Mr Simpson and his father Terry run 15,000 Merino sheep and lambs and a small number of crossbreds and have been using Tara Park genetics for 11 years.
The second highest priced ram was also bound for Victoria with the Anderson Family “St Katherines” Darriman paying $5000.
Volume buyer on the day was W.E. Lawrence Bowning, who took seven rams to $2400 to average $1714. Other volume buyers were Sinclair Stratton, Ulah Station Orange, Danny McGrath “Clearview”, Boorowa & Neil Mattiske “Sunnydale” Forbes.
